Croquet mallets and balls in West Chiltington and Pulborough
The short answer: Golf Croquet players in West Chiltington, Storrington and Pulborough can order an Invictus mallet to their own measurements for delivery to West Sussex. It is a game of quick turns and running shots, so most members here would look first at the Invictus Rise.
Croquet in West Chiltington and Pulborough
West Chiltington Croquet Club plays at the Recreation Ground in Mill Road, with a pavilion on site. Local listings say croquet has been played in the village since 1977 and that the club became independent in 1995.
The club concentrates on Golf Croquet, which it describes as fast paced and sociable, and draws members from Storrington, Pulborough, Sullington, Washington, Ashington and Steyning. Storrington's community website has carried notices of free taster sessions, and of socials to open and close each season; older notices show play on Monday and Friday mornings and Wednesday afternoons from April to September. Those dates go back some years, so ask the club for this season's times.
What West Chiltington's lawns and weather mean for your mallet
The village sits north of the South Downs on the sandstone ridge above the Arun valley. A spring-to-autumn calendar means most of your games fall in the months when Sussex grass is firmest and fastest. In Golf Croquet each stroke is a contest for the next hoop, with no time for a second thought, so a clean strike under pressure counts for more than power.
Which Invictus mallet suits West Chiltington players
Invictus Rise, £525. The mallet we sell most often. Its aluminium head is about 3 lb, it has a slightly larger sweet spot, and it is a little easier to control when the game moves quickly. An 11 inch head is the usual choice.
RF Pro, £975. Lighter at about 2 lb 12 oz and very precise. The flagship was developed with World Champion Robert Fletcher and pairs a 3D printed aluminium head with brass weights and composite faces.
Each mallet is made to order at your handle length, with an 11 or 12 inch head. Graphite Black comes standard; four further colours, Snow White, NRA Blue, Rose Gold and Deep Purple, add £89. Weight is not a choice on either model. Our fitting page shows how to measure, and product care covers looking after it.
