What WCF approval means for a croquet ball

If you have looked at croquet balls for a club, you will have seen "WCF approved". This page explains what that means and when it matters.

Who the WCF is

The World Croquet Federation is the sport's international governing body. It keeps a list of balls approved for use in its championships, and national associations generally follow that list for their own events.

What approval covers

To be approved, a ball has to meet the Federation's published requirements and pass its testing.

Invictus X balls passed on their first attempt, where other manufacturers have needed several. That result reflects the strength of our in-house quality control. Invictus X balls are championship approved by the World Croquet Federation.

When it matters to your club

  • If your club hosts tournaments under association or federation rules, the balls must be approved.
  • If your members play in tournaments elsewhere, practising at home with approved balls means the balls behave the same on the day.
  • For purely social play, approval is not required, but it is still the simplest independent check that a ball is made to a consistent standard.
