Croquet mallets and balls in Ealing
The short answer: croquet players in Ealing can order an Invictus mallet made to their own handle length and delivered across west London, and the club can add championship approved balls one set at a time. We would suggest most members begin with the Invictus Rise.
Croquet in Ealing
Croquet in Lammas Park is older than the club that plays there now. The Ealing Local Board bought about 23 acres of this lammas land, once grazed by manor tenants after harvest, in 1881. By 1911, the London Gardens Trust records, the park held four croquet lawns alongside its tennis courts, bowling greens and cricket pitches.
Ealing Croquet Club was founded in 1988 and plays on three lawns beside the Edwardian pavilion. In July 2023 it was one of the venues for the Association Croquet World Championship, sharing the play with Dulwich, Roehampton, Surbiton and Woking before the finals at Hurlingham. In October 2024 the club took a 15-year lease from Ealing Council, and volunteers have been restoring the pavilion since; the Croquet Gazette reported the first phase finished in July 2025. Saturday pay and play sessions have run from April to mid-September, and under-18s must come with an adult.
What Ealing's lawns and weather mean for your mallet
London is among the drier corners of England, and a hot spell in July or August can leave park lawns firm and fast. Spring and autumn bring the opposite: softer, slower grass. A mallet that keeps the stroke straight and lets you judge pace closely suits both seasons.
Which Invictus mallet suits Ealing players
Invictus Rise, £525. Of our two mallets, the Rise sells best. Roughly 3 lb sits in its aluminium head, and the slightly larger sweet spot makes it a little easier to control. We usually advise an 11 inch head.
RF Pro, £975. Our flagship, developed with World Champion Robert Fletcher, has a 3D printed aluminium head with brass weights and composite faces. Around 2 lb 12 oz, it is lighter and very precise.
We start work when you order, cutting the handle to your length and fitting an 11 or 12 inch head. Graphite Black is the standard colour; Snow White, NRA Blue, Rose Gold and Deep Purple are £89 extra. Weight is not a choice. See the fitting guide and how the two compare.
Balls for Ealing clubs
Invictus X balls carry World Croquet Federation championship approval, weigh 450 g and are made entirely in Australia. A set is £479, and one set of first colours plus one of second per lawn is a fair guide; what WCF approval means explains the standard.
Delivery to Ealing
Since we build every mallet to order, delivery to London is usually 4 to 8 weeks from purchase. Take that as an estimate.
