Croquet mallets and balls in Redcliffe
The short answer: Redcliffe and Moreton Bay players can order an Invictus mallet built to their handle length, and clubs can order Invictus X ball sets, online with delivery to the peninsula. For most players on these bayside lawns the Invictus Rise is the place to begin.
Croquet in Redcliffe and Moreton Bay
Eildon Croquet Club, on Oxley Avenue at Woody Point, officially began on 13 June 1955 and takes its name from the founder's garden, itself named after a Scottish town. At first there was no clubhouse: a large wooden packing case held the cups, the teapot and a primus stove, and members once sheltered inside it during a violent storm. Only women played then, and only association croquet. Today Eildon has about 85 members and four mallet sports: association, golf croquet, ricochet and gateball. Golf croquet starts early, at 7:30am on Tuesdays and Fridays and 7am on Saturdays, and newcomers can book a free taster session online.
Around the bay, the Moreton Bay Gateball Club plays at Deception Bay, and Pine Rivers Croquet Club at Brendale runs ricochet, golf croquet and gateball five days a week.
What Redcliffe's lawns and weather mean for your mallet
The peninsula is subtropical: warm and humid in summer, with storms that can roll in across the bay, and gentle, dry winters. Summer growth leaves the lawns thick and slow after rain; the dry season firms them up. You want weight for heavy days and a forgiving head for uneven ones.
Which Invictus mallet suits Redcliffe players
Invictus Rise, A$990. Our most popular model. The aluminium head is near 3 lb, so it pushes the ball through wet-season grass, and the sweet spot is slightly larger, making it a little easier to control for golf croquet and ricochet alike. An 11 inch head is our standard advice.
RF Pro, A$1,980. The flagship, refined with World Champion Robert Fletcher. Brass weights and composite faces are fitted to a 3D printed aluminium head, about 2 lb 12 oz all up. Choose it if you prefer a lighter, very precise mallet.
Both are made around your measured handle length, with an 11 or 12 inch head. Graphite Black costs nothing extra; Snow White, NRA Blue, Rose Gold and Deep Purple add A$130.90. Weights are fixed for each model. Measure with the fitting guide, then see compare mallets.
Balls for Moreton Bay clubs
Invictus X balls are 450 g, approved by the World Croquet Federation for championship play, made entirely in Australia and A$990 a set. Allow one first-colour and one second-colour set per lawn; ball colours explained covers the colour order.
Delivery to Redcliffe
Mallets are made once you order and usually reach the peninsula in 4 to 8 weeks: an estimate, not a promise. Balls come by courier, with the delivered cost confirmed beforehand.
