Croquet mallets and balls in Ramsgate

The short answer: anyone playing in Ramsgate or elsewhere in Thanet can buy Invictus mallets and Invictus X balls from our website, delivered to the Kent coast. On Westcliff lawns that host national finals and internationals, the precise RF Pro will tempt stronger players; most club members will be happiest with the Invictus Rise.

Croquet in Ramsgate

Ramsgate Croquet Club was founded in 1983 at Montefiore Gardens and moved in 1987 to the Westcliff Lawns on the Royal Esplanade, overlooking the sea. The site is part of a 1920s art-deco development of tennis courts, bowls lawns and a bandstand, now a conservation area, and the club's pavilion is Grade II listed. The croquet lawns began life as public tennis courts; around the turn of the century three of the four were laser-levelled and an irrigation system was installed, and the club says they are still considered among the finest in the country. The 2026 programme shows why: the Ramsgate Golf Croquet Championship and a Ladies' GC Open in June, the GC Home Internationals in July, the AC Third Eight for the Spencer Ell Cup and a Golf Croquet A-Level series national final in September. Newcomers get free coaching and taster sessions, with club days on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

What Ramsgate's lawns and weather mean for your mallet

East Kent is among the sunnier and drier parts of England, and watered, laser-levelled lawns on the cliff top play fast and true in summer. Sea breezes can still unsettle a long shot. The club closes from the end of December until early March, so spring lawns at the start of the season are softer and slower than the quick surfaces of a September final.

Which Invictus mallet suits Ramsgate players

RF Pro, £975. The top of our range, a collaboration with World Champion Robert Fletcher. Brass weighting and composite striking faces are set into a head 3D printed in aluminium, and the mallet comes in close to 2 lb 12 oz. Lighter, very precise, and at home on fast, level lawns.

Invictus Rise, £525. No Invictus mallet is more popular. Some 3 lb of aluminium in the head feels steadier in a breeze and on soft spring grass, while a slightly enlarged sweet spot gives a little more control. Most members would take the 11 inch head.

Every mallet is built on order to the handle length you specify; heads are 11 or 12 inches. Colours: Graphite Black at no charge, or Rose Gold, Snow White, Deep Purple and NRA Blue for £89. Read the fitting guide and compare mallets.

Balls for Ramsgate clubs

The Invictus X ball, approved by the World Croquet Federation for championships, weighs 450 g and is made entirely in Australia; a set is £479. With four lawns, the rule of thumb is eight sets, first and second colours on each. See what WCF approval means for tournament venues.

Delivery to Ramsgate

Once ordered, a mallet is made and shipped to the UK, normally landing in Thanet within four to eight weeks; we offer that only as an estimate. Ball orders are priced to your door, and you agree that figure before paying.

Questions Ramsgate players ask

Does wind off the sea change the choice? Some players feel a heavier head is steadier, which points to the Rise; others still prefer the RF Pro's precision.

Can I use it at the club before keeping it? Yes. Our optional satisfaction guarantee (£75) gives you 30 days of club play first.

Will salty air harm it? Wipe the head and faces after play by the sea and store it indoors; see product care.
