Croquet mallets and balls in Llandudno and North Wales
The short answer: players in Llandudno, Llanfairfechan and along the North Wales coast can order an Invictus mallet or Invictus X balls online, delivered to the door. For seaside lawns that are mild, damp and often windy, the Invictus Rise is the mallet we recommend first.
Croquet in Llandudno and North Wales
Craig-y-Don Croquet Club plays at the Craig-y-Don Sports and Community Centre on Queens Road in Llandudno, and calls itself a club for experienced and social players alike, with novices welcome. Its lawn is open from 1 April to 30 September for association and golf croquet, and its 2026 calendar included the Sheraton Cup, Dukes Trophy, Border Trophy and Snowdonia Cup, with an awards lunch and winter games afternoons off the lawn. The club marked its tenth anniversary in 2022 and links to a Sport Wales crowdfunding page. Along the coast to the west, Llanfairfechan Croquet Club has two lawns on Shore Road West. Both clubs sit in Croquet England's North West Federation, alongside Chester and Southport.
What North Wales lawns and weather mean for your mallet
Squeezed between the mountains of Eryri and the Irish Sea, this coast has a mild climate with plenty of rain and a lot of wind. Frost is rare by the shore, so lawns stay green, but they are seldom firm; breezy, damp afternoons are common. A heavier head keeps the ball travelling on soft grass, and a forgiving face helps when gusts unsettle your stance.
Which Invictus mallet suits North Wales players
Invictus Rise, £525. Our most-chosen mallet. A head of roughly 3 lb in aluminium, and a sweet spot that is slightly larger, make it a bit easier to control. We would normally pair it with the 11 inch head.
RF Pro, £975. Our flagship, developed side by side with World Champion Robert Fletcher. The head is aluminium, 3D printed, with brass weights inside and composite faces outside; at around 2 lb 12 oz it is lighter and very precise.
Mallets are made to order: send your handle length, choose 11 or 12 inches for the head, and pick Graphite Black at no cost or Snow White, Deep Purple, Rose Gold or NRA Blue for £89. Weight stays as designed. Our fitting guide and mallet comparison help.
Balls for North Wales clubs
Invictus X balls weigh 450 g, are made entirely in Australia and are World Croquet Federation championship approved, at £479 a set. As a guide, each lawn wants a first-colour set and a second-colour set, so one of each for Craig-y-Don and two of each for Llanfairfechan. See how many sets a club needs.
Delivery to North Wales
We build the mallet when you order and send it to the UK; delivery to the coast usually takes 4 to 8 weeks from order, given as an estimate. With ball sets, we agree the delivered price with you before payment.
Questions North Wales players ask
Should I choose the 12 inch head? Only if you prefer it; with the Rise our usual advice is the 11 inch.
Can I play the summer cups with it before deciding? Yes, through our free 30-day satisfaction guarantee.
Do coastal showers affect the head? No; wet weather does not trouble aluminium. Wipe the faces after play and follow our care notes.
