Croquet mallets and balls in Lymington

The short answer: Lymington players can order an Invictus mallet built to their handle length and delivered to the New Forest coast, and the club can add championship balls whenever it needs them. For a member who plays morning, afternoon or evening on the one lawn, the Invictus Rise is our first recommendation.

Croquet in Lymington

Lymington Croquet Club began in a back garden in Sway in 1995 and now has its own lawn at Woodside Gardens, off Rookes Lane; Croquet England lists it in the Southern Federation. The gardens, a formal space of about 2.8 hectares beside the Woodside playing fields, were left to the people of Lymington by Colonel Henry Douglas Rooke in 1925 for recreation.

The club plays golf and association croquet, and members can use the lawn seven days a week in morning, afternoon and evening sessions from late April to late September, with golf croquet competition days in the calendar. Its website says the club is full for the 2026 season and invites anyone interested to join the waiting list.

What Lymington's lawns and weather mean for your mallet

Lymington faces the Isle of Wight across the western Solent, with the New Forest behind it. The climate is mild, and a sea breeze often arrives in the afternoon. One lawn shared by a full club sees steady wear, and a dry spell makes it quicker still, while late April games tend to be slower and damper. A dewy first session and a warm late afternoon can feel quite different.

Which Invictus mallet suits Lymington players

Invictus Rise, £525. Our most popular mallet, its aluminium head weighing in around 3 lb. The sweet spot is slightly generous, a help as the lawn changes through the day. We usually advise an 11 inch head.

RF Pro, £975. The flagship we created with World Champion Robert Fletcher: brass weights and composite faces in a 3D printed aluminium head, close to 2 lb 12 oz overall. Lighter and very precise, it suits fine control on a fast lawn.

Both mallets are made to order to your handle length; heads come in 11 or 12 inches. Graphite Black is standard; Snow White, NRA Blue, Rose Gold and Deep Purple are an extra £89. Weight is fixed. Our fitting guide covers handle length, and compare mallets sets the two side by side.

Balls for Lymington clubs

Invictus X balls hold World Croquet Federation championship approval. Each weighs 450 g, they are made entirely in Australia, and a set is £479. A one-lawn club usually needs one set of first colours and one of second. See what WCF approval means.

Delivery to Lymington

We make each mallet after it is ordered, and delivery to Lymington normally falls somewhere in the 4 to 8 week range. Treat this as an estimate.
