Croquet mallets and balls on the Kapiti Coast
The short answer: Kāpiti Coast players in Paraparaumu and Waikanae can order an Invictus mallet made to their own handle length, and both clubs can order Invictus X balls, online with courier delivery from Australia. When you are ready to move on from a club mallet, the Invictus Rise is the usual first step.
Croquet on the Kāpiti Coast
The coast has two clubs about ten minutes apart. Paraparaumu Croquet Club plays on four full-size lawns at the Mazengarb Sports Reserve, off Scaife Drive. With about 90 active members playing golf and association croquet, it has hosted national and international competitions, supports secondary school croquet, and runs Have a Go days with gear provided. Its summer season runs from mid-August to early May, and members are encouraged to try different club mallets before buying their own.
Waikanae Croquet Club has five lawns in Waikanae Park on Park Avenue and, when last reported, about 80 members. It offers free lessons, lends new players a mallet for their first season, and halves the first year's subscription for new members. Over winter the two clubs share their play.
What Kāpiti's lawns and weather mean for your mallet
Kāpiti is milder and often sunnier than Wellington, though the coast catches its share of wind. Summer lawns firm up and run true; through the wetter months they soften and slow. Precision pays in the main season; extra head weight helps in spring and autumn.
Which Invictus mallet suits Kāpiti players
Invictus Rise. The pick of most of our buyers, and a natural step up from a club mallet. About three pounds of aluminium in the head gives it carry, and because the sweet spot is a touch larger than standard it is a little easier to control. We usually recommend the 11 inch head.
RF Pro. Our flagship, built in collaboration with World Champion Robert Fletcher. The 3D printed aluminium head houses brass weights and wears composite faces, so the whole mallet sits at about 2 lb 12 oz with a lighter, very precise feel.
Handles are cut to your measurement and heads come in 11 or 12 inch lengths. Graphite Black is our standard finish; Snow White, NRA Blue, Rose Gold and Deep Purple are optional extras. Weight is fixed per model. After trying a few club mallets, settle your length with the fitting guide.
Balls for Kāpiti clubs
The Invictus X ball is World Croquet Federation approved for championship play, 450 g in weight and wholly Australian-made. The guide is a first-colour and a second-colour set per lawn, which adds up at four or five lawns. How many sets a club needs helps with the sums.
Delivery to the Kāpiti Coast
Because nothing is built until you order, expect your mallet on the coast usually 4 to 8 weeks later, an estimate we cannot promise. Ball orders go by courier, priced to your door beforehand.
Questions Kāpiti players ask
I'm still on a borrowed club mallet. When should I buy? When you know your stroke. The optional 30-day satisfaction guarantee lets you play club games with your own first.
Will sea air or damp affect it? No. The aluminium head does not swell or warp; product care covers looking after it.
