Croquet mallets and balls in Hartfield, Virginia

The short answer: players at Hartfield and around Virginia's Middle Peninsula can order an Invictus mallet or a set of Invictus X balls through our website, shipped to Virginia. On some of the flattest, most carefully leveled lawns in the country, accuracy wins, so the RF Pro is worth weighing up alongside our most popular mallet, the Invictus Rise.

Croquet in Hartfield

A quiet corner of Middlesex County holds one of the biggest croquet venues anywhere. The Chesapeake Bay Croquet Club, on Twiggs Ferry Road, began when a croquet professional laid a court on his homestead, a 100-plus acre former peach orchard, for friends to share. It grew to eight laser-leveled courts, billed as the flattest two acres of lawn in the world, and in 2022 announced an expansion to 24 full-size courts that Croquet Network has since called the world's largest croquet club. Hartfield has hosted a USCA national championship that, by the club's estimate, drew 15 or 16 of the country's top 20 players, a professional tour event and a 2020 challenge weekend against the St. John's College team. The club offers free lessons and loaned equipment to anyone who arranges a visit, runs week-long golf croquet clinics and five-day spring boot camps in golf croquet and six-wicket, and its pro passed 1,000 students taught in 2026.

What Hartfield's lawns and weather mean for your mallet

Tidewater Virginia has hot, humid summers, frequent afternoon storms and mild winters with occasional freezes. Spring and fall are the best croquet months. A laser-flat court leaves nowhere to hide a poor stroke, so a mallet that rewards control earns its keep.

Which Invictus mallet suits Hartfield players

RF Pro, US$1,295. Built with World Champion Robert Fletcher, our flagship carries brass weights and composite faces in a 3D printed aluminum head. Coming in near 2 lb 12 oz, it is lighter and very precise: a match for championship-quality lawns.

Invictus Rise, US$695. Our most popular. A head of roughly 3 lb in aluminum, plus a slightly bigger sweet spot, makes it a little easier to control for players coming out of boot camp. Most should order it with the 11 inch head.

We make each mallet to order for your handle length and fit an 11 or 12 inch head. Graphite Black is standard, and Deep Purple, Snow White, Rose Gold or NRA Blue is a US$119 option. See the fitting guide and comparison.

Balls for Virginia clubs

Invictus X has World Croquet Federation championship approval, weighs 450 g and is made entirely in Australia; US$635 buys a set. With many courts in play, a club's guide is one set of first colors and one of second colors per court. What WCF approval means explains the standard.

Delivery to Hartfield
