Croquet mallets and balls in Hamilton, Victoria

The short answer: croquet players in Hamilton, in Victoria's Western District, can order an Invictus mallet or Invictus X balls online and have them delivered. On the cool, often soft lawns of the Southern Grampians the 3 lb Invictus Rise is the mallet we recommend first.

Croquet in Hamilton

Hamilton Croquet Club plays on the corner of Martin and Kennedy Streets, on Thursdays and Saturdays, in a morning session from 10am and an afternoon one from 1pm. Its codes are association croquet and ricochet, the quicker, simpler game that suits newcomers. Coaching and equipment are supplied. Each spring the club runs a Seniors Festival come-and-try afternoon; in 2026 it falls on Tuesday 27 October, with the basics, a short game and afternoon tea, and bookings are essential. The club's own Doris Lanyon Tournament follows in November, with a day of ricochet and then two days of association croquet.

What Hamilton's lawns and weather mean for your mallet

Hamilton is wool and cattle country on the volcanic plains, and its weather is cooler and wetter than most of inland Victoria. Winters are cold, windy and damp, and lawns can stay soft from late autumn to spring. Summers are generally mild, so the courts firm up without becoming glassy. Enough head mass to push through moist grass matters most here.

Which Invictus mallet suits Hamilton players

Invictus Rise, A$990. Our most popular mallet. The aluminium head weighs around 3 lb, which keeps the ball travelling on soft turf, and its slightly larger sweet spot makes it a little easier to control for players still learning the game through ricochet. We normally fit it with an 11 inch head.

RF Pro, A$1,980. The flagship, developed with World Champion Robert Fletcher. The 3D printed aluminium head carries brass weights and composite faces, and the whole mallet is about 2 lb 12 oz. Lighter and very precise, it is aimed at experienced association players.

Both are made to order to your handle length, with a head of 11 or 12 inches. The standard finish is Graphite Black; for A$130.90 more you can have Snow White, Deep Purple, NRA Blue or Rose Gold. Start with the fitting page and the comparison of our two mallets.

Balls for Hamilton clubs

Invictus X has championship approval from the World Croquet Federation, weighs 450 g and is made entirely in Australia; each set is A$990. The usual guide is one set of first colours and one of second colours per lawn. Our explainer on WCF ball approval is useful for tournament clubs.

Delivery to Hamilton

Every mallet is built to order and usually arrives in Hamilton about 4 to 8 weeks after ordering, which is an estimate rather than a promise. For ball sets, tell us how many lawns you have and we will quote a delivered price.

Questions Hamilton players ask

Is a good mallet worth it for ricochet? If you play every week, yes; the same mallet serves ricochet and association.

Could I have one before the Doris Lanyon Tournament? Only if you order well ahead, because delivery is usually 4 to 8 weeks.

What if I'm not sure about it? The optional satisfaction guarantee, A$99 for 30 days, lets you play with it at the club before deciding.
