Croquet mallets and balls in Wonthaggi
The short answer: Wonthaggi players can order an Invictus mallet or Invictus X balls online and have them delivered on the Bass Coast. For golf croquet on a green that stays soft for much of the year, the Invictus Rise is our usual first suggestion.
Croquet in Wonthaggi
Wonthaggi Croquet Club plays golf croquet on the corner of Wentworth and Korumburra Roads, opposite the swimming pool, from 10am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays all year round, weather permitting. It calls itself a small club always looking for members, and it is a genuinely inclusive one: players with walking frames, an electric chair and partial sight all take part. In the West Gippsland division of the golf croquet pennant, Wonthaggi beat a previously unbeaten Warragul eight games to six in November 2025. The same month its annual Level Play Singles, sponsored by the Wonthaggi Workers Club, drew ten clubs from across Victoria, including Sale, Bairnsdale, Traralgon and Drouin, to a green that visitors found in excellent condition.
What Wonthaggi's lawns and weather mean for your mallet
The Bass Coast has a mild, maritime climate. Summers are moderate and often breezy, winters are cool and wet, and wind off Bass Strait can push a slow-rolling ball off its line. The green holds its moisture for long stretches, so most of the year you are playing on soft, steady grass where weight in the head and a smooth stroke count.
Which Invictus mallet suits Wonthaggi players
Invictus Rise, A$990. The Rise is our most popular mallet. Its aluminium head is around 3 lb, solid enough for soft coastal turf, and a slightly bigger sweet spot means it is a little easier to control. We would usually fit the 11 inch head.
RF Pro, A$1,980. Our flagship was developed hand in hand with World Champion Robert Fletcher. Brass weights and composite faces are fitted to its 3D printed aluminium head, for about 2 lb 12 oz overall: lighter and very precise, for players entering level singles events.
Neither is pulled from stock. We make yours to your handle length, with an 11 or 12 inch head, in Graphite Black at no extra cost or in Rose Gold, Snow White, Deep Purple or NRA Blue for A$130.90. Read our fitting guide and mallet comparison.
Balls for Wonthaggi clubs
Invictus X balls are approved by the World Croquet Federation for championship play, are made entirely in Australia and weigh 450 g. The price is A$990 per set. Allow first and second colours for each lawn; our guide to choosing club balls goes further.
Delivery to Wonthaggi
A made-to-order mallet usually reaches Wonthaggi 4 to 8 weeks after you order. Treat that as an estimate. For ball sets, tell us how many lawns you play on and we will quote including delivery.
Questions Wonthaggi players ask
I play from a seated position. Will an Invictus suit me? Both are made to your handle length, so tell us how you play when you order; our fitting guide explains how to measure.
Can I play pennant with it before I decide? Yes, for 30 days, with the optional A$99 satisfaction guarantee.
Will coastal rain damage it? No. Wipe it down after play and see product care.
