Croquet mallets and balls in Warragul
The short answer: Warragul players can order an Invictus mallet or Invictus X balls online and have them delivered in West Gippsland. On the soft, green lawns of dairy country we usually recommend the Rise and its 3 lb head, with the RF Pro for pennant players who want a lighter, more exact mallet.
Croquet in Warragul
Warragul Croquet Club plays golf croquet on two grass greens in Anderson Street, beside the bowling club. The club traces its story back 120 years, though not always under the same name or on the same ground. Regular play is on Wednesday and Saturday mornings, with a club twilight session on most Mondays from 3pm. Since late 2025 it has run OK Croquet!, a monthly Sunday social session with music, a barbecue and free use of mallets and balls for anyone who turns up, and a Baw Baw Shire grant paid for new club mallets in a range of sizes and weights. On the competitive side, Warragul led the West Gippsland pennant division seven weeks into the 2025 season, ahead of Drouin and Wonthaggi, and a club member has been selected for the Victorian State Team.
What Warragul's lawns and weather mean for your mallet
West Gippsland is some of Victoria's greenest country, and for good reason: rain is reliable, summers are mild and winters are cool and damp. The greens rarely bake hard, and from autumn to spring they play soft and slow. That calls for real mass in the head and an unforced swing.
Which Invictus mallet suits Warragul players
Invictus Rise, A$990. The most popular model we make. Close to 3 lb of aluminium in the head keeps the ball travelling over moist grass, while a slightly larger sweet spot means control comes a little more easily. Our normal advice is the 11 inch head.
RF Pro, A$1,980. The top model, which World Champion Robert Fletcher helped us develop. Brass weights and composite faces are fitted to a head 3D printed in aluminium, and the mallet weighs close to 2 lb 12 oz. It is the lighter, very precise choice for players working towards state selection.
Both are made to order to match your handle length, with an 11 or 12 inch head. Graphite Black comes standard, and Deep Purple, Snow White, NRA Blue or Rose Gold cost A$130.90 more. Read the fitting guide and compare the two mallets.
Balls for Warragul clubs
Each Invictus X ball weighs 450 g, is made entirely in Australia and has World Croquet Federation approval for championship play. Sets are A$990. For a two-green club the guide is two sets of first colours and two of second. See our ball-set guide for clubs.
Delivery to Warragul
Mallets are made individually after you order and usually reach Warragul 4 to 8 weeks later (an estimate, not a guarantee). For balls, tell us how many greens you are equipping and we will quote with delivery.
Questions Warragul players ask
Do the club's new mallets make buying pointless? They are a fine way to start; a mallet cut to your own handle length is the next step.
Can I play pennant with it before deciding? Yes. Choose the optional 30-day satisfaction guarantee for A$99.
Will Gippsland rain hurt the head? No. Wet weather is no problem for aluminium; towel it off when you finish and look at our care advice.
