Croquet mallets and balls in Wagga Wagga
The short answer: if you play in Wagga Wagga, you can order an Invictus mallet or a club set of Invictus X balls online and have it sent to the Riverina. For most players moving up from a borrowed club mallet, we suggest starting with the Invictus Rise.
Croquet in Wagga Wagga
The Wagga Wagga Croquet Club was founded in 1909 and still plays in the middle of town, at 25 Fitzhardinge Street, on three full-sized lawns. Its calendar includes the Three Way tournament, a doubles round robin played around World Croquet Day between Wagga, Wodonga, Walla, Albury and Young; it has run since 2012, always at Wagga because the city sits central to every team. The club has also staged an annual golf croquet carnival over four days, which by 2015, its seventh year, was drawing more than thirty players from across the state. Newcomers often begin through U3A Wagga Wagga's Croquet for Fun sessions at the club on Sunday afternoons, where all equipment is supplied.
What Wagga Wagga's lawns and weather mean for your mallet
Inland on the Murrumbidgee, the seasons swing hard. Summer days regularly pass 35 degrees and the lawns bake hard and run quickly; winter brings cold, frosty mornings when the grass stays wet and the ball pulls up short. You want weight for a heavy July lawn and control on a quick January court.
Which Invictus mallet suits Wagga Wagga players
Invictus Rise, A$990. The mallet most of our customers choose. It has an aluminium head of roughly 3 lb, and the sweet spot is a little larger than usual, which makes it slightly easier to control. We normally pair it with an 11 inch head.
RF Pro, A$1,980. The top of our range, worked out together with World Champion Robert Fletcher. Its 3D printed aluminium head carries brass weights and composite faces and comes in near 2 lb 12 oz: lighter, and very precise.
We build each one to order at your handle length, with your pick of an 11 or 12 inch head. Graphite Black is the standard finish; for A$130.90 extra you can have Snow White, NRA Blue, Rose Gold or Deep Purple. Measure up with the mallet fitting guide, then weigh the two against each other on compare mallets.
Balls for Wagga Wagga clubs
Invictus X balls hold World Croquet Federation championship approval, weigh 450 g each and are made entirely in Australia. A set is A$990. As a guide, three lawns call for three sets in first colours and three in second. More in our note on choosing balls for a club.
Delivery to Wagga Wagga
Since every mallet is built for its owner, plan on about 4 to 8 weeks between ordering and delivery to Wagga. That figure is our estimate, not a promise.
Questions Wagga Wagga players ask
I have only used club mallets at U3A. Which should I buy first? The Rise, made to your own handle length.
What if I order and it does not suit my game? Add the optional 30-day satisfaction guarantee for A$99 and use the mallet in real games before you decide to keep it.
Will forty-degree days on the lawn harm it? No; the head is aluminium. See our product care notes.
