Croquet mallets and balls in Tattenhall
The short answer: croquet players in Tattenhall can order an Invictus mallet made for their own handle length and delivered to Cheshire, and the club can buy championship approved balls a set at a time. For most members, the Invictus Rise is where we would begin.
Croquet in Tattenhall
Tattenhall Croquet Club is the newest section of Tattenhall Recreation Club and one of the sports run by Sport Tattenhall. The village directory lists play on Tuesday afternoons from 2 to 4 and Thursday evenings from 6 to 8, April to October.
The club has built itself up from very little. In 2019 Tattenhall Online reported that members had spent six years turning rough ground into a well kept, fenced lawn with a clubhouse and equipment store. That effort earned the Croquet Association's Townsend Award, given each year to the most improved club in the country. Tattenhall also won the Snowdonia Cup, the North Wales and Chester competition for association and golf croquet teams, in 2021 and defended it the next summer against clubs such as Craig y Don.
What Tattenhall's lawns and weather mean for your mallet
Tattenhall sits on the Cheshire plain under the Peckforton Hills, where rain arrives steadily through the year. A lawn won from rough ground can keep a few soft patches, and the Thursday evening session often finishes on dewy grass. Both slow the ball, which favours a mallet that moves it cleanly from a short, controlled backswing.
Which Invictus mallet suits Tattenhall players
Invictus Rise, £525. Our most popular mallet. Roughly 3 lb of aluminium sits in the head, and a slightly larger sweet spot forgives a strike slightly off centre, making it a touch easier to control on damp evening grass. We tend to recommend the 11 inch length.
RF Pro, £975. The flagship, developed with World Champion Robert Fletcher. Composite faces and internal brass weights finish a head 3D printed in aluminium; weighing close to 2 lb 12 oz, it is the lighter and more exacting choice.
Nothing is built until you order: we cut the handle to your length and fit either an 11 inch or a 12 inch head. Graphite Black is the standard finish; Snow White, NRA Blue, Rose Gold or Deep Purple cost an extra £89. Head weight cannot be changed. Our fitting guide shows how to measure, and you can set the two side by side.
Balls for Tattenhall clubs
The Invictus X ball carries World Croquet Federation championship approval, weighs 450 g and is made entirely in Australia. A set is £479. For each lawn, plan on one set of first colours and one of second; see choosing balls for a club.
Delivery to Tattenhall
Because we build to order, delivery to Cheshire usually takes 4 to 8 weeks from the day you buy. That is an estimate.
