Croquet mallets and balls in Swindon
The short answer: Swindon players can buy an Invictus mallet or a set of Invictus X balls online, delivered to their door in Wiltshire. Because Golf Croquet is the most popular game at the club, the forgiving Invictus Rise is our usual recommendation, with the lighter RF Pro for those chasing precision.
Croquet in Swindon
Swindon Croquet Club was founded in 1985 and plays at the Moredon Sporting Hub in Cheney Manor, where it has three lawns and hopes to expand to five. Since the turn of the century membership has grown to sixty or more, with players aged from 14 to well into their eighties. Golf Croquet is the most played game: Tuesdays and Thursdays are GC club days, while Wednesday afternoons are kept for Association Croquet. The club fields four teams in South West Federation leagues, two in each code, and runs a season-long GC league plus two AC competitions, the Lydiard Plate and the Cliff Cardis Cup. One-ball and Short Croquet open the season. In 2026 Swindon also hosted Golf Croquet C-level and D-level series events in July and an AC C-level tournament for the Neil Morrison Trophy in August.
What Swindon's lawns and weather mean for your mallet
Swindon lies in north Wiltshire, inland and away from the mild maritime weather of the coast, so spring can stay cool and the lawns slow until well into the season. Summer warmth then firms the grass and speeds it up. For a club where most members play Golf Croquet, steady hoop running across that spread of pace matters more than raw power.
Which Invictus mallet suits Swindon players
Invictus Rise, £525. Most players start here; it is our most popular model. The aluminium head comes in close to 3 lb, and a sweet spot slightly larger than normal makes it a little easier to control at the hoop. We advise the 11 inch head for most people.
RF Pro, £975. Our flagship, created alongside World Champion Robert Fletcher. Brass weights and composite faces are housed in an aluminium head made by 3D printing; it weighs about 2 lb 12 oz and is lighter and very precise.
Both are made to order to fit your handle length, and you can choose an 11 or 12 inch head. Graphite Black is standard. Deep Purple, Snow White, NRA Blue and Rose Gold are £89 each. Weight is set by the model. Start with the mallet fitting guide and then compare mallets.
Balls for Swindon clubs
Each Invictus X ball is approved by the World Croquet Federation for championships and weighs 450 g; the balls are made entirely in Australia and cost £479 a set. A three-lawn club, growing to five, would allow a first-colour and a second-colour set for each lawn. Our guide to choosing balls for a club helps with the plan.
Delivery to Swindon
We build each mallet once ordered and send it to the UK, reaching Swindon in usually 4 to 8 weeks; please read that as an estimate. For balls, the delivered price is confirmed before payment.
Questions Swindon players ask
Is there a mallet for a 14-year-old member? Both models are cut to the player's handle length, so a younger player gets the right size.
Can I play a few club days with it before keeping it? Yes. The optional 30-day satisfaction guarantee costs £75.
Golf or Association: which mallet? Either works in both. Pick the Rise for forgiveness, the RF Pro for the lightest, most exact feel.
