Croquet mallets and balls in Swanage
The short answer: Swanage players can order an Invictus mallet made to their own handle length and sent to the Purbeck coast, and the club can top up its championship balls whenever it needs to. For most members of a busy golf croquet club, we would suggest the Invictus Rise first.
Croquet in Swanage
Swanage Croquet Club was founded in 2005 on the Swanage Cricket Club ground in Day's Park. In May 2023, after eighteen years there, it moved to the Swanage Primary School playing field off Bon Accord Road (formerly Mount Scar), where a football pitch became two croquet lawns, raised to competition standard that first season.
The club is large by English standards: Swanage News reported nearly a hundred members in 2021 and about seventy in 2024. Golf croquet is the main game, members can play seven days a week in summer, and the club fields teams in the South West Federation leagues. Its all handicap side won the federation trophy in 2022, and its high handicap team reached the regional final in 2023. It now hopes for a long lease and a permanent pavilion.
What Swanage's lawns and weather mean for your mallet
Swanage looks across its bay towards Old Harry Rocks, so wind off the Channel is part of most afternoons. Lawns made from a football field are young turf, and new lawns can play a little uneven and soft until they settle; after a dry spell on the Dorset coast they firm up and run faster.
Which Invictus mallet suits Swanage players
Invictus Rise, £525. Our most popular mallet. The aluminium head is roughly 3 lb with a slightly larger sweet spot, so it is a little easier to control when a young lawn bounces unpredictably. We usually advise the 11 inch length.
RF Pro, £975. Our flagship, designed with World Champion Robert Fletcher. Its 3D printed aluminium head is fitted with brass weights and composite faces, and at about 2 lb 12 oz it feels lighter in the hands and rewards a precise, compact swing.
Each mallet is built after you order, to your handle length, with a head of 11 or 12 inches. Graphite Black comes as standard; Snow White, NRA Blue, Rose Gold and Deep Purple add £89. The weight is set. Start with our mallet fitting guide, or compare the two mallets.
Balls for Swanage clubs
Made entirely in Australia, each Invictus X ball weighs 450 g and holds World Croquet Federation championship approval; a set costs £479. As a guide, a lawn needs one set in first colours and one in second. See how many ball sets a club needs.
Delivery to Swanage
Since every mallet is made to order, we estimate it will reach Swanage around 4 to 8 weeks after you buy. That window is a guide only.
