Croquet mallets and balls in Shepparton
The short answer: anyone playing in Shepparton or Mooroopna can buy an Invictus mallet or a set of Invictus X balls online and have it delivered in the Goulburn Valley. For hard, quick summer lawns the lighter RF Pro is worth a look; the Invictus Rise remains the all-round pick.
Croquet in Shepparton
The Shepparton Croquet Club was inaugurated on 20 June 1924 at the old Star Theatre in Fryers Street and marked its centenary in 2024 with a high-tea day that drew 32 players from around the valley. It plays association and golf croquet at Winston Street, where the courts have lights for twilight games. Across the river, the Mooroopna Croquet Club plays on two greens in Joyce Reid Drive most days of the week. Both belong to the Goulburn Valley Croquet Association, and in 2026 they joined forces for World Croquet Day with 36 players. Shepparton holds a come-and-try day each October.
What Shepparton's lawns and weather mean for your mallet
This is irrigated fruit country with long, hot, dry summers. By January the courts are hard and slick, the ball runs a long way off a gentle stroke, and delicate shots around the hoop decide most games. In winter, foggy mornings leave the grass damp and slow, and you need weight behind the ball to reach the far boundary.
Which Invictus mallet suits Shepparton players
RF Pro, A$1,980. The flagship, developed with World Champion Robert Fletcher. A 3D printed aluminium head, brass weights and composite faces bring it to about 2 lb 12 oz: lighter and very precise, which suits players who love the fast summer lawns.
Invictus Rise, A$990. Our most popular mallet. The aluminium head is close to 3 lb, with a slightly bigger sweet spot that makes it a little easier to control. It is the safer one-mallet answer if you also play through the foggy months; we usually pair it with an 11 inch head.
Either is built for you alone: handle cut to your length, an 11 or 12 inch head, Graphite Black at no cost, or Deep Purple, Rose Gold, NRA Blue or Snow White for A$130.90 extra. See the handle fitting guide and the model comparison.
Balls for Shepparton clubs
Invictus X is approved by the World Croquet Federation for championship play, weighs 450 g, is made entirely in Australia and sells for A$990 a set. Plan on one first-colour set and one second-colour set per court; our page on how many ball sets a club needs walks through the numbers.
Delivery to Shepparton
Each mallet is made to order. Expect it in Shepparton roughly 4 to 8 weeks after you order; that is an estimate, not a promise. For balls, tell us how many courts you have and we will come back with a delivered price.
Questions Shepparton players ask
Will a lighter mallet cope with winter lawns? Mostly, though some players feel the slow grass. If you want one mallet for every month, choose the Rise.
Can I play twilight games with it before I commit? Yes. The optional 30-day satisfaction guarantee, A$99, lets you use it in real games first.
Does it suit golf croquet as well as association? Yes; both Invictus mallets are used for either code.
