Croquet mallets and balls in Sarasota

The short answer: if you play in Sarasota, Venice or anywhere else in Sarasota County, you can order an Invictus mallet or Invictus X balls online and we ship them to you. Winter courts on the Gulf Coast run firm and quick, so tournament regulars often choose the RF Pro; the Invictus Rise is the one most players buy.

Croquet in Sarasota County

The Sarasota County Croquet Club plays at Wellfield Park, 1420 Lucaya Avenue, Venice, on seven full-size courts. With more than 240 members it calls itself the largest public croquet club in the country, and it offers golf croquet, American six-wicket and association play. It was formally founded in 2000. The October-to-May season includes USCA-sanctioned invitationals: the Shark Tooth for golf croquet, plus the Holiday Classic and The Jones under American rules. In April 2025 the club staged the U21 WCF World Golf Croquet Championship. Beginners get a free Tuesday open house, and the Sarasota Lawn Bowling Club on Circus Boulevard also welcomes the public to play.

What Sarasota's lawns and weather mean for your mallet

Most play happens in the dry season, when scant rain leaves the surface hard and fast and touch matters more than power. Then summer brings heat, humidity and almost daily afternoon storms, the turf softens, and a ball that skipped along in January wants a firmer strike in July.

Which Invictus mallet suits Sarasota players

RF Pro, US$1,295. Our flagship, developed with World Champion Robert Fletcher. Brass weights and composite faces sit in a 3D printed aluminum head, and the whole mallet weighs in near 2 lb 12 oz. Light and very precise: a strong pick for quick winter lawns.

Invictus Rise, US$695. The most popular Invictus. Its aluminum head is close to 3 lb, its sweet spot a touch larger, so it is a little easier to keep straight. We usually pair it with an 11 inch head; the extra heft earns its keep once rain slows things down.

We make each one to your handle length; you choose between 11 inch and 12 inch heads. Standard finish is Graphite Black, or pay US$119 extra for Rose Gold, NRA Blue, Deep Purple or Snow White. See the fitting guide and this comparison.

Balls for Sarasota clubs

Invictus X is approved by the World Croquet Federation for championship play, weighs 450 g and is made entirely in Australia, at US$635 a set. A sensible starting point is two sets per lawn, first colors and second colors; our club ball guide explains why.

Delivery to Sarasota

Mallets are built one by one, then shipped to Florida; usually that takes 4 to 8 weeks after you order, an estimate and not a guarantee. On ball sets we tell you the delivered price first, and you pay only once you have agreed it.

Questions Sarasota players ask

I only spend winters here. When do I order? By late summer, so it is ready for October.

What if I do not like it? The free 30-day satisfaction guarantee lets you play club games with it first.

Does Gulf Coast humidity hurt aluminum? No. Dry the faces after a damp morning; product care has the details.
