Croquet mallets and balls in Riga and Latvia
The short answer: golf croquet players in Riga and the clubs around it can order an Invictus mallet built to their handle length, along with championship balls, delivered to Latvia. For a short season on lush northern grass, the Invictus Rise is the mallet we would put forward first.
Croquet in Riga and Latvia
Latvian croquet began in 2009, says a World Croquet Federation event guide, with demonstrations and two new clubs; Latvia soon joined the WCF and sent a team to the 2012 Golf Croquet World Team Championship in Cairo. Since 2012 the Latvian Croquet Federation has run an international Golf Croquet Baltic Open every year.
The main venue is the Ikšķile Croquet Club, about 30 km east of central Riga on the Daugava. Built with a WCF development grant and opened in June 2021, it has three full-size lawns. In 2022 it hosted the Women's Golf Croquet European Championship, with play also on the single lawn at Sigulda, a club founded in 2010. Around 70 Latvians then held WCF golf croquet grades, and the Ikšķile lawns hosted the German-Baltic Chamber of Commerce's season finale in June 2026.
What Latvia's lawns and weather mean for your mallet
Winters are long and snowy, so outdoor play is squeezed into late spring to early autumn. In return, early July has fewer than five hours of darkness, and some lawns are floodlit. Damp northern grass plays slowly, so a slightly heavier head earns its keep. Aluminium does not mind cold storage over winter.
Which Invictus mallet suits Latvian players
Invictus Rise, US$695. Our most popular mallet. About 3 lb of aluminium in the head and a slightly larger sweet spot help push the ball through soft grass and make it a little easier to control. We usually recommend the 11 inch head.
RF Pro, US$1,295. Our flagship, created with World Champion Robert Fletcher: a 3D printed aluminium head carrying brass weights and composite faces, at roughly 2 lb 12 oz. It is lighter and very precise.
Each is made after you order, to your handle length, with an 11 or 12 inch head. Graphite Black is standard; the other four colours cost US$119 extra. Weight is fixed for each model. Start with the mallet fitting guide, or compare both mallets.
Balls for Latvian clubs
Invictus X balls carry World Croquet Federation championship approval, weigh 450 g and are made entirely in Australia. A set costs US$635. Plan one set of first colours and one of second for each lawn, so a three-lawn venue would want six. See croquet ball colours explained.
Delivery to Latvia
Built-to-order mallets usually arrive 4 to 8 weeks after ordering, an estimate rather than a fixed date. We tell you the delivered price to Latvia before you commit.
Questions Latvian players ask
When should I order for the new season? In late winter, so the mallet is in hand when the lawns open.
Is the Rise too heavy for golf croquet? Not on Latvian grass. Its weight helps the ball through a soft lawn, and the wider sweet spot forgives a slightly off-centre stroke.
What if it does not feel right? Add the optional 30-day satisfaction guarantee for US$99 when you order.
