Croquet mallets and balls in Pendle and Craven
The short answer: players around Earby, Colne, Barnoldswick and Skipton can order an Invictus mallet or Invictus X balls online, delivered anywhere in Pendle and Craven. On Pennine lawns that host national tournaments yet stay soft much of the year, we recommend the Invictus Rise first.
Croquet in Pendle and Craven
Pendle and Craven Croquet Club began in 1985, when its founder's first members played in his garden. After a spell outside Nelson and Colne College in Barrowford, it settled in 2005 on Cemetery Road in Earby, on the Lancashire and Yorkshire border, where it has played on five lawns ever since. The lawns are open 365 days a year, the club belongs to both the North West and Yorkshire federations, and members can play in East and West Pennine League fixtures. Its calendar is busy: an Easter association croquet tournament named for the founder, the Lancashire International Golf Croquet Open each April, golf croquet series at several levels, advanced and handicap weekends, and in September 2026 the golf croquet B-Level series national final. In August 2027 it is listed to stage the McWeeney Trophy, Ireland against England in association croquet. Free taster sessions and introductory courses help newcomers start.
What Pendle and Craven lawns and weather mean for your mallet
Earby sits between Pendle Hill and the Yorkshire Dales, high enough to catch plenty of Pennine rain. Lawns that are open all year spend autumn, winter and early spring soft and slow, and only a dry summer spell brings real pace. A head with weight in it saves forcing your swing on heavy grass.
Which Invictus mallet suits Pendle and Craven players
Invictus Rise, £525. Of everything we make, this sells best. Its head is aluminium and weighs in near 3 lb; the sweet spot runs a touch larger, which leaves the Rise a little easier to control. Order the 11 inch head unless you know you want otherwise.
RF Pro, £975. The flagship, which World Champion Robert Fletcher helped to develop. Composite faces front a 3D printed aluminium head loaded with brass weights; about 2 lb 12 oz overall, it is the lighter and very precise choice.
Each one is made to order from the handle length you send and an 11 inch or 12 inch head. Graphite Black is standard; NRA Blue, Deep Purple, Snow White or Rose Gold costs £89. The weight cannot be altered. Read the fitting guide and compare mallets.
Balls for Pendle and Craven clubs
£479 buys a set of Invictus X. The World Croquet Federation approves them for championship play, each weighs 450 g, and all are made entirely in Australia. Five lawns would want, as a guide, five first-colour and five second-colour sets. See how many ball sets a club needs.
Delivery to Pendle and Craven
Once you order, we build the mallet and send it to the UK; it normally lands in Earby or Skipton 4 to 8 weeks later, which is only an estimate. Ball sets come with a delivered price you approve first.
Questions Pendle and Craven players ask
Is a heavier head sensible for play all year? Yes; on soft winter lawns the Rise's weight is an advantage.
Can I try it at a tournament first? Yes. For £75 you can add an optional satisfaction guarantee that runs 30 days.
Does winter play damage the head? No. Dry the faces after play; see product care.
