Croquet mallets and balls in Orange
The short answer: Orange players can order an Invictus mallet or a set of Invictus X balls online and have it delivered to the Central West. On the city's cold, high lawns, the Invictus Rise is the mallet we recommend first.
Croquet in Orange
The Orange City Croquet Club plays from its Hill Street facility and had 56 members in 2020, the year it lifted its playing days from three to four a week. Grants have paid for new equipment from Orange Credit Union and the state government and, in 2019, $4,664 for two patio blinds to shelter players from the weather. A lease for an air monitoring station on site also helps pay for keeping the greens. Each autumn the club has held an association carnival; in 2019 twelve players from the Central West, the Central Coast and Sydney played singles and doubles from Monday to Friday, with the most wins taking the title. In March 2026 a free Seniors Festival session at the Orange croquet courts at Jaegar Reserve gave beginners coaching with all equipment provided.
What Orange's lawns and weather mean for your mallet
At roughly 860 metres, Orange is among the coldest cities in New South Wales. Frost is routine through winter and the odd snowfall is part of local life, so a morning lawn can stay wet and sluggish until well after the first game. Summers are milder than on the plains. Mass behind the ball matters here for much of the year.
Which Invictus mallet suits Orange players
Invictus Rise, A$990. Our most popular model. Around 3 lb of aluminium in the head carries the ball across a slow, dewy court, and a slightly enlarged sweet spot makes it a little easier to control. We usually recommend the 11 inch head.
RF Pro, A$1,980. Our flagship, created with World Champion Robert Fletcher. The head is aluminium, 3D printed, weighted with brass and faced with composite; it weighs about 2 lb 12 oz, lighter than the Rise and very precise.
You choose the handle length and an 11 or 12 inch head; we make the mallet to suit. Graphite Black is standard, and Snow White, NRA Blue, Rose Gold or Deep Purple adds A$130.90. Read the fitting guide first, then compare the two mallets.
Balls for Orange clubs
Invictus X balls are World Croquet Federation championship approved, 450 g, and made entirely in Australia. They cost A$990 per set. The guide we give clubs is one set of first colours and one of second for each lawn; see how many ball sets a club needs.
Delivery to Orange
Because we make each mallet after the order comes in, expect it in Orange usually 4 to 8 weeks later. That is an estimate, not a fixed date.
Questions Orange players ask
Should a carnival player pick the lighter mallet? If you want fine control in association play, look at the RF Pro; if you want help on slow lawns, the Rise.
Is there a way out if it is wrong for me? The optional 30-day satisfaction guarantee costs A$99 and lets you use the mallet in club games before deciding.
Can frost or snow damage it? Not the aluminium head. Wipe it dry after play; our product care page has the details.
