Croquet mallets and balls on Sydney's North Shore

The short answer: North Shore players, from Mosman to Warrawee, can order an Invictus mallet or Invictus X balls online, with each mallet built to order. For most club players, our recommendation is the Invictus Rise.

Croquet on the North Shore

Mosman Croquet Club was founded in 1924 and marked its centenary in 2024; it runs the Mosman Prize for Golf Croquet, a three-day tournament that has drawn players from across the state. Cammeray's club, in the sporting complex between Ernest Street and Park Avenue, is an association croquet stronghold, with sessions graded from beginner up to Gold and a coaching course, open to members of any club, for golf croquet players moving across to the association game. Chatswood Croquet Club has three full-size grass courts at 699A Pacific Highway and a clubhouse seating about forty, and its free come-and-try sessions lend club mallets to anyone eighteen or over. At Killara, the club plays on two lawns in Regimental Park, on the corner of Lorne Avenue and the Pacific Highway, about 450 metres from the station, offering both association and golf croquet. Warrawee's club, further up the line, runs a Summer Cup through late spring.

What the North Shore's lawns and weather mean for your mallet

Sydney's North Shore has warm, humid summers with heavy storms and mild winters with little frost. Several clubs play in leafy settings, and after storm rain a court can stay soft and slow for days; a dry spell then makes it quick.

Which Invictus mallet suits North Shore players

Invictus Rise, A$990. Our most popular mallet. It pairs about 3 lb of aluminium in the head with a sweet spot a little larger than normal, which makes it slightly easier to control. We usually recommend the 11 inch head.

RF Pro, A$1,980. Our flagship, developed alongside World Champion Robert Fletcher. The head is 3D printed aluminium with brass weights and composite faces, about 2 lb 12 oz, so it is lighter and very precise.

Either mallet is made for one owner: the handle to your measured length, the head at 11 or 12 inches. Standard finish is Graphite Black; Snow White, NRA Blue, Rose Gold or Deep Purple add A$130.90. Our fitting guide and comparison of the two mallets will help you choose.

Balls for North Shore clubs

Invictus X carries World Croquet Federation championship approval, weighs 450 g a ball and is made entirely in Australia; a set is A$990. A three-lawn club such as Chatswood would hold three sets in first colours and three in second as a guide; see croquet ball colours explained.

Delivery to the North Shore

We build after you order, and delivery to the North Shore is usually 4 to 8 weeks from that point, as an estimate.

Questions North Shore players ask

I am moving from golf to association croquet. Which mallet? Either works; pick the RF Pro for precision or the Rise for a little more control.

Can I use it in club games before committing? Yes, with the optional 30-day satisfaction guarantee for A$99.

Do storms and wet lawns affect the head? No, it is aluminium. Dry the faces after play; read product care.
