Croquet mallets and balls in Lithgow
The short answer: Lithgow croquet players can order an Invictus mallet made to their own handle length, and the club can order Invictus X balls, with everything delivered over the mountains to the door. For cold, slow Lithgow lawns we point most players to the Invictus Rise.
Croquet in Lithgow
Lithgow Croquet Club plays at Glanmire Park, on the corner of James and Young Streets, beside the town's hockey and tennis grounds. A state grant announced in November 2018 paid for a big rebuild: the old lawn was lifted, the playing area extended on two sides, fresh turf laid and new fencing put up.
The club shows the game to newcomers with a stand at Ironfest and school sessions that teach the basic skills. It has also taken up gateball, a fast team game played with a mallet, and hosts an annual gateball tournament in March that draws teams from Sydney clubs.
What Lithgow's lawns and weather mean for your mallet
Lithgow sits at roughly 950 metres on the western side of the Blue Mountains. Winters are cold, frost is routine and snow is not unusual. A frosted lawn in June plays slow and the ball stops early, so Lithgow players want a head with enough mass to send the ball the full length without forcing the stroke.
Which Invictus mallet suits Lithgow players
Invictus Rise, A$990. The mallet we sell most. The aluminium head is about 3 lb, a good match for heavy mountain lawns, and its marginally larger sweet spot gives you leeway when the hands are cold. Most take the 11 inch head.
RF Pro, A$1,980. Our top mallet, developed alongside World Champion Robert Fletcher, with a 3D printed aluminium head, brass weighting and composite faces at around 2 lb 12 oz. It is the lighter, more surgical choice for a player who already strikes the ball well.
We make each mallet after you order it, to your handle length, with an 11 or 12 inch head. Graphite Black is the standard finish; Snow White, NRA Blue, Rose Gold or Deep Purple cost A$130.90 more. Head weight is not adjustable. The fitting guide and compare mallets will help.
Balls for Lithgow clubs
When the enlarged Glanmire Park lawn needs a fresh set, Invictus X balls are A$990 a set, with World Croquet Federation championship approval, 450 g each and made entirely in Australia. Our page on how many sets a club needs explains the first and second colour allowance per lawn.

Questions Lithgow players ask
Does frost hurt an aluminium head? No. Aluminium shrugs off cold and dew; wipe the faces dry after a wet morning. See product care.
Can I use it for gateball? Our mallets are built for croquet. Gateball uses its own sticks, a different piece of kit.
Nobody in Lithgow sells mallets. How do I try one? Add the optional 30-day satisfaction guarantee (A$99) and play with it at Glanmire Park before you decide.
