Croquet mallets and balls in Lismore
The short answer: Lismore players can order an Invictus mallet or Invictus X balls online, made to order and sent to the Northern Rivers. For most members at Spinks Park we recommend the Invictus Rise.
Croquet in Lismore
The Lismore Croquet Club was established in 1928 and plays at Spinks Park, near the river and the CBD, just off Molesworth Street. Its heritage-listed clubhouse was opened on 22 September 1931 by the Governor of New South Wales, Sir Philip Game, and extended in the 1980s. As late as 1983 every member was a woman; today women make up about 70 per cent. In 2021 the club had 36 members playing on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings and at twilight on Fridays, mostly golf croquet and ricochet, and that year a state sport grant added rooftop solar and air conditioning to the clubhouse. The 2022 flood badly damaged the building. Since then it has hosted a NSW Division 3 golf croquet event in 2024 and the Division 2 State Golf Croquet Championships in June 2025.
What Lismore's lawns and weather mean for your mallet
The Northern Rivers are subtropical and wet. Summer brings heat, humidity and heavy rain, so lawns can be soft and slow for days after a storm, and grass grows fast. Winters are mild and drier, and the courts firm up. For much of the season you are asking a mallet to move the ball through lush, damp grass.
Which Invictus mallet suits Lismore players
Invictus Rise, A$990. Our most popular choice. Its aluminium head weighs about 3 lb, useful on thick wet grass, and a slightly larger sweet spot makes it a little easier to control. We usually recommend the 11 inch head with it.
RF Pro, A$1,980. Our flagship, brought to life with World Champion Robert Fletcher. It has a 3D printed aluminium head with brass weights and composite faces, about 2 lb 12 oz: lighter, and very precise when the lawns are dry and quick.
We make each to order at your handle length, with an 11 or 12 inch head, finished in standard Graphite Black or, for A$130.90 more, Snow White, NRA Blue, Rose Gold or Deep Purple. See the fitting guide and compare mallets.
Balls for Lismore clubs
Invictus X balls are approved by the World Croquet Federation for championships, weigh 450 g and are made entirely in Australia, at A$990 for a set. A first-colour set and a second-colour set per lawn is the usual guide, as our page on how many sets a club needs explains.
Delivery to Lismore
Every mallet is built after the order is placed. Delivery to Lismore usually takes 4 to 8 weeks from order, an estimate, not a guarantee.
Questions Lismore players ask
Does humidity bother an aluminium head? No, it will not swell or split. Dry the faces after a damp evening and follow our product care advice.
I mainly play golf croquet on Friday twilights. Which mallet? Most players start with the Rise; choose the RF Pro if you want a lighter, more precise feel.
Can I return it if it is wrong? With the optional 30-day satisfaction guarantee (A$99), you can play a month of club games first.
