Croquet mallets and balls in Letchworth

The short answer: players in Letchworth Garden City, Hitchin and the surrounding villages can order an Invictus mallet or a set of Invictus X balls online and have it delivered in north Hertfordshire. For a club where Golf Croquet is played keenly at every level, the Invictus Rise is the mallet we would put forward first.

Croquet in Letchworth

Letchworth Croquet Club plays on two lawns at the Letchworth Sports and Tennis Club in Muddy Lane, and in May 2026 it marked twenty years at the ground with a celebratory fun doubles afternoon. It belongs to the East Anglian Federation, and in 2026 its team won the federation's GC Open League. The club calendar is full: beginners' courses in spring and early summer, a GC high-handicap tournament for newer members, the Alabaster Cup and other Golf Croquet trophies, club championships in both codes and a two-day July midweek AC tournament for B-level players. A September fun doubles drew 32 members, and the club has hosted visits from Hitchin groups. Monthly coffee mornings keep members together through the autumn and winter.

What Letchworth's lawns and weather mean for your mallet

North Hertfordshire sits on the edge of the drier east of England. Summer afternoons can be very hot, as members found at one blisteringly warm Bank Holiday tournament in 2026, and lawns then run firm and fast. Spring beginners' courses and autumn play see slower, softer grass. A mallet that stays accurate when the lawn speeds up, but still carries the ball when it is slow, suits this club well.

Which Invictus mallet suits Letchworth players

Invictus Rise, £525. Our most popular model. The aluminium head weighs around 3 lb and the sweet spot is a shade larger, which makes it slightly easier to control at the hoop, valuable for anyone fresh from a beginners' course. Our usual recommendation is the 11 inch head.

RF Pro, £975. Our flagship, designed with World Champion Robert Fletcher. The head is aluminium, 3D printed, and weighted with brass behind composite faces, bringing the mallet to approximately 2 lb 12 oz. Lighter and very precise, it suits league players.

Order either at your own handle length with an 11 or 12 inch head; we make it to order. Graphite Black is the default; Deep Purple, Snow White, NRA Blue and Rose Gold are £89 options. See the fitting guide and mallet comparison.

Balls for Letchworth clubs

Invictus X has World Croquet Federation championship approval, weighs 450 g and is made entirely in Australia; a set is £479. Two lawns would usually need four sets, first and second colours on each. Read how to choose balls for a club.

Questions Letchworth players ask

I play only Golf Croquet. Rise or RF Pro? Most GC players do well with the Rise; choose the RF Pro if fine control is your priority.

Can I play some league games with it before keeping it? Yes, if you add the optional 30-day satisfaction guarantee for £75.

Can I choose how heavy it is? No; each model has its own head weight.
