Croquet mallets and balls in Leongatha
The short answer: a Leongatha player can have an Invictus mallet made to measure and delivered to South Gippsland, and the club can build up championship balls set by set. On the soft, well-watered lawns of the recreation reserve, the Invictus Rise is the mallet we would point most people to first.
Croquet in Leongatha
Leongatha Croquet Club plays at the Leongatha Recreation Reserve off Roughead Street. Its 1930 pavilion is listed in Victoria's heritage database as the only interwar sporting pavilion in South Gippsland Shire, with the croquet lawn counted as part of what makes the place significant.
The game here goes back to the town's high school. A South Gippsland Star history records that when the school was built in 1912, the founding headmaster's wife saw to it that a croquet lawn was laid in the front garden, and the school's official opening in early 1913 took place on that lawn. She later started the croquet club at the recreation reserve.
The council directory lists club days as Wednesday from 10am to 4pm and Saturday from 1pm to 4pm, with free coaching and free use of equipment.
What Leongatha's lawns and weather mean for your mallet
South Gippsland's rolling dairy country stays green because rain is reliable for much of the year. Through autumn and winter the lawn holds moisture and plays slow, so the ball has to be pushed through damp grass. Summers are milder than inland Victoria, though a dry spell can still quicken the surface noticeably.
Which Invictus mallet suits Leongatha players
Invictus Rise, A$990. The mallet most of our players pick. With roughly 3 lb in its aluminium head and a slightly larger sweet spot, it is a little easier to control on a heavy, damp lawn. Most buyers go with the 11 inch length of head.
RF Pro, A$1,980. Our flagship, created with World Champion Robert Fletcher. It pairs a 3D printed aluminium head with brass weights and composite faces; at around 2 lb 12 oz, it is lighter and very precise.
Either one is made to order, its handle cut to your length and its head 11 inches or 12. The standard finish is Graphite Black, while Snow White, NRA Blue, Rose Gold and Deep Purple are A$130.90 more. You cannot choose the weight. Measure up with mallet fitting.
Balls for Leongatha clubs
Invictus X balls are World Croquet Federation championship approved. Each weighs 450 g, they are made entirely in Australia, and a set is A$990. As a rule of thumb, allow a first-colour and a second-colour set for each lawn; how many ball sets a club needs works through the numbers.

Questions Leongatha players ask
The club lends equipment, so why buy? A mallet cut to your height feels identical every week, which matters once you play regularly.
Will wet Gippsland lawns damage it? No. Dry the head and handle after play; product care has the details.
Can I try it before committing? Yes: the optional 30-day satisfaction guarantee costs A$99.
