Croquet mallets and balls in Hong Kong
The short answer: Hong Kong players can order an Invictus mallet, built to their own handle length, or a set of Invictus X championship balls, and we deliver them from Australia. For club lawns that grow fast in the humid months, the Invictus Rise is our usual first suggestion.
Croquet in Hong Kong
Hong Kong's croquet community is small but organised. The Hong Kong Croquet Association was recognised by the World Croquet Federation as a Recognised Croquet Organisation in January 2023. At that point it had two clubs: the Hong Kong Cricket Club, with 27 members, and the Hong Kong Club, with 15 playing members.
The Cricket Club hosted four tournaments in 2022, covering singles and doubles in both association croquet and golf croquet, and ran a league from September to April. The association planned its first National Championships for the following April, and the federation invited croquet players visiting the city to get in touch.
What Hong Kong's lawns and weather mean for your mallet
Hong Kong's climate is subtropical: summers are hot, very humid and wet, with typhoons a risk through summer and early autumn, while the months from autumn to spring are cooler and drier. It is no surprise the league runs from September to April. In the wet season grass grows quickly and a lawn can play thick and slow; in the dry months it firms up. Humidity is hard on timber, which can swell or loosen, but an aluminium head is unaffected, and a heavier head helps on soft grass.
Which Invictus mallet suits Hong Kong players
Invictus Rise, US$695. Our most popular mallet. A roughly 3 lb aluminium head with a slightly bigger sweet spot makes it a little easier to control, and we generally fit it with an 11 inch head.
RF Pro, US$1,295. Our flagship, designed alongside World Champion Robert Fletcher. Brass weights and composite faces are set in a 3D printed aluminium head of about 2 lb 12 oz, so it is lighter and very precise.
Both are made to order. You give us your handle length and pick an 11 or 12 inch head; Graphite Black is standard, and Snow White, NRA Blue, Rose Gold or Deep Purple add US$119. Head weight is not adjustable. Our fitting guide shows how to measure, and compare mallets sets out the differences.
Balls for Hong Kong clubs
Invictus X balls are approved by the World Croquet Federation for championship play. Each weighs 450 g, they are made entirely in Australia, and a set of four is US$635. For a club, one set in first colours and one in second colours per lawn is a practical guide, and our page on choosing croquet balls for a club goes further.
Delivery to Hong Kong
We make each mallet after your order and send it from Australia, usually 4 to 8 weeks from order as an estimate. For ball sets we confirm the delivered price to Hong Kong before you pay.
Questions Hong Kong players ask
Will the humidity damage a metal mallet? No. Aluminium does not swell or warp; wipe it dry after play and see product care.
Can I order in time for the league season? Order by early summer and the 4 to 8 week estimate should see it arrive before September.
Is there a guarantee? Yes: a free 30-day satisfaction guarantee on every mallet.
