Croquet mallets and balls in Fairhope
The short answer: croquet players in Fairhope and Point Clear can order an Invictus mallet cut to their own handle length, plus championship balls, delivered to the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay. The Invictus Rise is our usual first suggestion, though the RF Pro deserves a look on the quick golf croquet lawns here.
Croquet in Fairhope
Recreational croquet has long been a Grand Hotel tradition in Point Clear, and in October 2022 the game stepped up. The Lakewood Club opened two championship-grade lawns off Battles Road, beside its aquatics center and overlooking Sweetwater Lake, marking its 75th anniversary with an exhibition match between two nationally ranked players.
The club chose golf croquet because newcomers can play after learning a few basics, and planned beginner lessons, clinics and two-day academies with visiting coaches. Grand Hotel guests can use the lawns too. A Birmingham club told local press in 2025 that croquet is huge in Fairhope and Mobile.
What Fairhope's lawns and weather mean for your mallet
The Lakewood lawns are laser leveled and sown with TifEagle Bermuda, the ultra-dwarf grass on the club's golf greens, mown daily through summer. Touch matters more than force on that fast, true surface. Gulf Coast summers are long, hot and humid; heat and moisture do not bother aluminium.
Which Invictus mallet suits Fairhope players
Invictus Rise, US$695. Our most popular model: an aluminium head of roughly 3 lb with a slightly bigger sweet spot, so it is a little easier to keep under control while you learn. Most owners take the 11 inch head.
RF Pro, US$1,295. The flagship we developed with World Champion Robert Fletcher. A 3D printed aluminium head, brass weights and composite faces bring it to about 2 lb 12 oz, lighter and very precise for delicate strokes on slick Bermuda.
We make each mallet once you order, to your handle length, with an 11 or 12 inch head. Graphite Black is standard; Snow White, NRA Blue, Rose Gold or Deep Purple cost US$119 more. Weight is set by the model. Our fitting guide shows how to measure, and compare mallets sets the two side by side.
Balls for Fairhope clubs
Invictus X balls hold World Croquet Federation championship approval, weigh 450 g each and are made entirely in Australia. A set is US$635. As a guide, each lawn needs one set of first colours and one of second, so two lawns means four sets. See how to choose croquet balls for a club.
Delivery to Fairhope
Expect your made-to-order mallet usually 4 to 8 weeks after ordering, as an estimate rather than a promise. We confirm the delivered cost to Alabama before you pay.
Questions Fairhope players ask
Is golf croquet a good place to start? Yes. The Lakewood Club picked it for new members because the basics come quickly.
Do fast lawns favor a lighter mallet? They can. On slick grass the ball needs less help, so the RF Pro's precision comes into its own; for more forgiveness, the Rise is still a sound pick.
What if it does not suit me? Add our optional 30-day satisfaction guarantee (US$99) when ordering and judge it in real games first.
