Croquet mallets and balls on the Coffs Coast
The short answer: players from Woolgoolga to Nambucca Heads can order an Invictus mallet or Invictus X balls online, with each mallet made to order. For most of them, the Invictus Rise is the mallet to start with.
Croquet on the Coffs Coast
Croquet NSW groups seven clubs into its Coffs Coast region: Sawtell, Woolgoolga, Urunga, Nambucca Heads, South West Rocks, Smithtown and Coutts Crossing in the Clarence. Sawtell Croquet Club, founded in 1948, plays on three lawns with a clubhouse inside the council-owned Sawtell Caravan Park at 5 Lyons Road. Its hundred or so members play six days a week across all three codes: golf croquet most weekday mornings, ricochet on Monday afternoons and Friday mornings, and association croquet on Wednesdays and Saturdays, with lessons in each and visitors welcome for a day fee. A Sawtell player won the 2026 NSW Advantage Golf Croquet Singles Championship. Inland at Coutts Crossing, near Grafton, a 2016 federal grant paid for a second lawn when demand outgrew the first; the club now runs Friday coaching and a golf croquet doubles tournament.
What the Coffs Coast's lawns and weather mean for your mallet
Coffs Harbour is one of the wettest places on the New South Wales coast. Summers are warm and humid with heavy rain, winters mild and largely frost free. Lawns grow fast and can be soaked for days after a big storm, then play firm and quick in a dry winter stretch.
Which Invictus mallet suits Coffs Coast players
Invictus Rise, A$990. Our most popular mallet. The head is aluminium, close to 3 lb, which pushes the ball through a heavy, wet court, and its sweet spot is a fraction larger, so the Rise is a little easier to control. Our standard advice is the 11 inch head.
RF Pro, A$1,980. Developed in partnership with World Champion Robert Fletcher, this flagship has a 3D printed aluminium head, brass weights and composite faces. It weighs about 2 lb 12 oz and is lighter and very precise.
Tell us your handle length and whether you want an 11 or 12 inch head, and we make the mallet to fit. Graphite Black is the standard colour, with Snow White, NRA Blue, Rose Gold and Deep Purple at A$130.90 extra. Before you order, read the fitting guide and compare the mallets.
Balls for Coffs Coast clubs
A$990 buys a set of Invictus X, the 450 g ball made entirely in Australia and approved by the World Croquet Federation for championships. Sawtell's three lawns would, on the usual guide, take three first-colour sets and three second-colour sets; see ball colours explained.
Delivery to the Coffs Coast
Expect your mallet usually 4 to 8 weeks after ordering, since it is made only once you buy. It is an estimate.
Questions Coffs Coast players ask
I play ricochet and golf. Which mallet? The Rise for most players; the RF Pro if you prefer a lighter, very precise head.
Can I play a few weeks before committing? Yes. Take the optional 30-day satisfaction guarantee, A$99, and play your usual club days.
Will the wet season hurt an aluminium head? No. Dry the faces after play and see product care.
