Croquet mallets and balls on the Central Coast

The short answer: On the Central Coast you can buy an Invictus mallet or Invictus X balls online, with every mallet made to order and delivered. Our usual first suggestion is the Invictus Rise.

Croquet on the Central Coast

Central Coast croquet began at Ourimbah in 1981, when a husband-and-wife pair founded a club at the Ourimbah-Lisarow RSL. In 1984, with Wyong Shire Council's help, it took a site at the Entrance District Sport and Community Centre that members called a swamp and piles of rubble. EDSACC Croquet Club formed that August with fifteen members, first played in June 1985, and had 72 members when its pavilion opened in October 1986. Today the club sits at 460 Central Coast Highway, Bateau Bay, on four lawns whose names tell its story: Dobell, Grant, Ourimbah and Wailes. In December 2025 it had 120 members, and they say interest on the Coast keeps growing. Wednesday brings ricochet and association play, and come-and-try and social days can be booked by phone for a small fee.

What the Central Coast's lawns and weather mean for your mallet

The Coast is humid and mild, with plenty of rain, including the odd east coast low. Frost is rare near the sea, but after a big wet the lawns hold water and play slow; a dry summer speeds them up.

Which Invictus mallet suits Central Coast players

Invictus Rise, A$990. No Invictus mallet is more popular. There is roughly 3 lb of aluminium in its head, enough to push a ball through a rain-soaked lawn, and an enlarged sweet spot gives slightly easier control. We would normally fit it with an 11 inch head.

RF Pro, A$1,980. At the top of the range sits the mallet that World Champion Robert Fletcher helped us create. Printed in aluminium on a 3D printer, its head is fitted with brass weights and faced with composite, and it comes in near 2 lb 12 oz, which keeps it lighter and very precise.

Both are built to order around your handle length, with a choice of 11 or 12 inch heads. Graphite Black is included; a colour upgrade to Rose Gold, Deep Purple, NRA Blue or Snow White is A$130.90. Use our fitting guide, then compare the Rise and RF Pro.

Balls for Central Coast clubs

For A$990 a club gets a set of Invictus X: 450 g balls, made entirely in Australia, that the World Croquet Federation has approved for championship play. A four-lawn club like EDSACC would keep, as a guide, four sets in first colours and four in second.

Delivery to the Central Coast

Allow roughly 4 to 8 weeks between your order and the finished mallet arriving on the Coast; it is an estimate, not a promise.

Questions Central Coast players ask

I have only played at a come-and-try day. Should I buy now? Borrow club mallets until you are hooked, then start with the Rise.

What if the mallet does not suit me? Order the optional 30-day satisfaction guarantee, A$99, and play your usual mornings before deciding.

Can I pick a heavier or lighter head? Not separately; weight comes with the model, about 3 lb for the Rise and about 2 lb 12 oz for the RF Pro. See product care too.
