Croquet mallets and balls in Bundaberg
The short answer: Bundaberg players can buy an Invictus mallet cut to their own handle length, and local clubs can buy Invictus X balls, by ordering online for delivery to the Wide Bay Burnett. For most people on Bundaberg's lawns the Invictus Rise is where we would begin.
Croquet in Bundaberg
The Bundaberg Croquet Club, on Quay Street in Alexandra Park, dates from 1900 and turned 121 in 2021, the year it staged its first barefoot croquet day for World Croquet Day, with a sausage sizzle for all comers. It plays on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings. Across town, Sunnyside Croquet Club on Walker Street, Walkervale, plays on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. To the south, the Isis Croquet Club in Childers meets on Pizzey Street on Tuesday and Saturday afternoons, welcomes visitors and lends a mallet, with afternoon tea included. All three belong to Croquet Queensland's Wide Bay Burnett region, alongside Hervey Bay and Maryborough.
What Bundaberg's lawns and weather mean for your mallet
Bundaberg's climate is subtropical and sunny, with hot, humid summers and summer storms, then mild, dry winters. Summer rain brings rapid growth and a heavier lawn; through the dry months the surface hardens and the ball runs on. A mallet with a solid head is useful in January, and good control pays off by July.
Which Invictus mallet suits Bundaberg players
Invictus Rise, A$990. Our most popular mallet. About 3 lb of aluminium in the head helps through thick summer grass, and a slightly larger sweet spot makes it a little easier to keep straight. It is normally ordered with the 11 inch head.
RF Pro, A$1,980. The flagship, built in partnership with World Champion Robert Fletcher. Its 3D printed aluminium head holds brass weights behind composite faces, for a total of about 2 lb 12 oz: lighter, and very precise on a dry winter lawn.
You tell us your handle length and head size, 11 or 12 inch, and we make the mallet to suit. The standard finish is Graphite Black; Snow White, NRA Blue, Rose Gold and Deep Purple are an extra A$130.90. The weight of each model is fixed. Our fitting guide covers measuring, and compare mallets sets the two side by side.
Balls for Bundaberg clubs
Invictus X balls are World Croquet Federation championship approved, 450 g each, made entirely in Australia, and A$990 a set. Plan for one first-colour set and one second-colour set per lawn. Choosing balls for a club goes into more detail.
Delivery to Bundaberg
A mallet is made only after you order, so Bundaberg delivery is usually 4 to 8 weeks from ordering; that is an estimate, not a guarantee. Balls travel by courier, and we confirm the delivered price before you are charged.
Questions Bundaberg players ask
Can I play barefoot with these? The mallet does not mind what is on your feet. Bring flat-soled shoes for normal club play.
What if I don't get on with it? Add the optional 30-day satisfaction guarantee (A$99) and play club games with it at Alexandra Park or Walkervale before deciding.
Does the humidity matter? No. The heads are aluminium, so they will not swell or crack. Wipe them dry; see product care.
