Croquet mallets and balls in Bendigo

The short answer: Bendigo players can order an Invictus mallet or a club set of Invictus X balls online, delivered anywhere in central Victoria. Players who like firm, fast summer lawns often prefer the lighter RF Pro, while the Invictus Rise remains our most popular all-round choice.

Croquet in Bendigo

Bendigo has one of regional Victoria's strongest croquet scenes. The Northern District Croquet Association plays on the historic Bendigo Croquet Club lawns in Barnard Street, and clubs at Eaglehawk, Golden Square, Quarry Hill and nearby Castlemaine take part in its pennant competition. The association also runs the annual Bendigo Festival of Croquet, with golf croquet at the weekend and association croquet through the week.

The Barnard Street bowls and croquet site is being refurbished by the City of Greater Bendigo, including its two croquet greens, with completion expected in late 2026.

What Bendigo's lawns and weather mean for your mallet

Central Victoria has hot, dry summers and cool winters. By late summer the lawns run firm and fast, so touch and control matter more than power. In winter the same lawns slow down, and a heavier head helps the ball travel.

Which Invictus mallet suits Bendigo players

RF Pro, A$1,980. Our flagship, developed with World Champion Robert Fletcher. Its 3D printed aluminium head with brass weights and composite faces weighs about 2 lb 12 oz, which many players find gives them finer control on quick lawns.

Invictus Rise, A$990. Our most popular mallet, with a head of about 3 lb and a slightly larger sweet spot that makes it a little easier to control. It is the one we suggest for most club players and for anyone playing right through the winter.

Whichever you pick, it is assembled to your measurements: handle length, an 11 or 12 inch head, and a finish. Black is included; the coloured finishes cost A$130.90 more. The side-by-side comparison and handle-length guide help with the choice.

Balls for Bendigo clubs

Pennant and festival lawns get heavy use, so balls wear and go missing. Invictus X, approved by the World Croquet Federation for championship play, costs A$990 for a set of four. Where lawns host tournaments, replace whole sets together so every ball plays alike; the guide to choosing club balls has more.

Delivery to Bendigo

Ordering ahead of the festival or the spring pennant season is wise: a made-to-order mallet typically takes 4 to 8 weeks to arrive in Bendigo (an estimate). For ball sets, email us the number of lawns and we reply with a price that includes courier delivery.

Questions Bendigo players ask

Is the RF Pro too light for winter? Some players do switch to the heavier Rise when lawns are slow. If you play all year on one mallet, the Rise is the safer choice.

Can a club order for several lawns at once? Yes. Tell us how many lawns you have, including any played as half-size courts, and we will work out the sets.

What if I order the wrong mallet? The optional 30-day satisfaction guarantee (A$99) lets you play a month of pennant with it first.
