Croquet mallets and balls in Benalla
The short answer: Benalla players can order Invictus mallets and Invictus X balls through our website for delivery to their door. For golf croquet, the only code the Benalla club plays, we suggest the Invictus Rise for most members and the RF Pro for those who want a lighter mallet on fast summer greens.
Croquet in Benalla
Benalla Croquet Club shares the Benalla Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club grounds in Ackerly Avenue, on the banks of the Broken River. It plays golf croquet on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, starting at 8.30am in summer and 9am in winter. Newcomers get their first three games free with some coaching, some mallets are kept for members and visitors to use, and the grounds have wheelchair access. Twice a year the club holds a golf croquet social day: the spring day in 2026 is Friday 23 October, and the autumn day follows on Thursday 15 April 2027. Benalla also has a sister club on the other side of the world: the Basingstoke Croquet Club in England.
What Benalla's lawns and weather mean for your mallet
Benalla lies on the plains of north-east Victoria, where summer days are hot and dry and winter mornings are cold, frequently frosty. By February the greens are hard and fast, and a ball that is over-hit keeps going. Frost and dew leave the winter grass heavy, so a mallet with weight behind it earns its keep from May to September.
Which Invictus mallet suits Benalla players
Invictus Rise, A$990. Our most popular mallet. With roughly 3 lb in its aluminium head and a sweet spot slightly larger than normal, it is a little easier to control and carries the ball on slow winter greens. We usually recommend the 11 inch head.
RF Pro, A$1,980. The flagship of the range, created alongside World Champion Robert Fletcher. Its 3D printed aluminium head, brass weights and composite faces total about 2 lb 12 oz, making it lighter and very precise for delicate golf croquet clearances in summer.
Both are made to order around your handle length, with an 11 or 12 inch head. Graphite Black is free; Snow White, Deep Purple, Rose Gold or NRA Blue cost A$130.90 more. The fitting guide explains measuring, and compare mallets lays the two side by side.
Balls for Benalla clubs
Invictus X balls have World Croquet Federation championship approval, weigh 450 g and are made entirely in Australia; sets cost A$990 each. As a guide, each lawn needs a set of first colours and a set of second colours. Our page on how clubs choose balls has more.
Delivery to Benalla
Because each mallet is built to order, Benalla deliveries normally arrive 4 to 8 weeks after ordering, as an estimate rather than a promise. Ball sets are quoted per club: say how many lawns you have and we reply with the price delivered.
Questions Benalla players ask
I only play golf croquet twice a week. Is my own mallet worth it? If you have used your three free games and want to keep playing, yes.
Can I try it at the club before keeping it? Yes. The 30-day satisfaction guarantee is free on your first Invictus mallet.
Will cold, frosty mornings damage it? No. A quick wipe of the faces when you finish is all it needs; our care page has more.
