Croquet mallets and balls in Beechworth
The short answer: Beechworth players can order an Invictus mallet or Invictus X balls online for delivery into the Indigo Shire. For golf croquet in a cool hill town, the Rise is the mallet we would hand most members, and the RF Pro is there for the club's pennant players.
Croquet in Beechworth
Beechworth Croquet Club plays golf croquet on Harper Avenue, behind the Senior Citizens Centre and opposite the bowls club, about three minutes from the historic precinct, with the rail trail running past the lawns. Play is on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings from 9am, on Sunday afternoons when needed, and on Monday twilight evenings from January to March. The club reports a resurgence of interest and many first-time players. It is competitive too: in May 2026 Beechworth won the North East District Croquet Association golf croquet pennant final, after members played the association's doubles championships in Wodonga, and in March 2026 it hosted a NEDCA social tournament. Visitors can borrow a mallet, and groups can book a private social day.
What Beechworth's lawns and weather mean for your mallet
Beechworth sits high in the foothills of the Victorian Alps, so it runs cooler than the plains below. Winters are cold, with regular frosts, and the grass stays damp and slow on winter mornings. Summers are warm rather than scorching; the courts quicken, and the January to March twilight sessions are a pleasant way to catch them at their best.
Which Invictus mallet suits Beechworth players
Invictus Rise, A$990. Of the two mallets we make, this is the more popular. An aluminium head of about 3 lb has the weight to move the ball over cold, damp grass, and its sweet spot is slightly larger, so it is a little easier to control. We suggest the 11 inch head.
RF Pro, A$1,980. Developed with World Champion Robert Fletcher, the RF Pro is our flagship. Brass weights and composite faces are set into a 3D printed aluminium head, and the mallet weighs about 2 lb 12 oz; it is lighter and very precise, which suits players defending a pennant title.
We make both to order, cutting the handle to your length and fitting the head size you choose, 11 or 12 inches. Graphite Black is standard, and Rose Gold, Deep Purple, Snow White or NRA Blue cost A$130.90 more. Start with measuring for a mallet and comparing the two.
Balls for Beechworth clubs
Invictus X is approved by the World Croquet Federation for championship play. Each ball weighs 450 g and is made entirely in Australia, and a set costs A$990. As a guide, a club needs first-colour and second-colour sets for each lawn; see how many sets a club needs.
Delivery to Beechworth
Your mallet is made after you order and should reach Beechworth in roughly 4 to 8 weeks, which is an estimate. For ball sets, let us know how many lawns you have and we will quote delivery.
Questions Beechworth players ask
I'm one of the new players. Is it too early to buy? Borrow the club's mallets for a while; when you are sure, the Rise is the easier mallet to learn with.
Can I play twilight games with it before I decide? Yes. The optional satisfaction guarantee is A$99 for 30 days.
Is frost a problem for the head? No. Dry it after play; product care has more.
